The progressive recovery of health and strength following illness or injury is convalescence. When the patient recovers and returns to former health, it applies to the latter stage of an infectious illness or disease, but can continue to be a source of infection for others even though they feel better.

Essential oils to use on convalescence
If you have a convalescent at home it may well be worth investing in essential oils that are not included in the Basic Care Kit. The following oils, which are in the kit, are all helpful and can be used in body oils, in the bath, or in a room diffuser and other room methods: geranium, lemon, lavender, rosemary, chamomile roman.
Basic blend -massage
Lavender | 5 drops |
Geranium | 3 drops |
Lemon | 3 drops |
Rosemary | 3 drops |
Chamomile roman | 5 drops |
Any blends used during convalescence should be ones that the patient really likes and enjoys. Lavender has universal appeal, as does geranium. Add in lemon and you have a gentle blend to start off the process of recovery. Always start with the lowest suggested amount of dilution. If a blend says to use between 3 and 5 drops, use 3.
Other Essential Oils That Could Be Used: *mandarin (Citrus reticulata), *palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii), *rose otto (Rosa damascena), *rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), *ginger (Zingiber officinale), *sandalwood (Santalum album), *frankincense (Boswellia carterii), *orange, sweet (Citrus sinensis)
